One of the Embassy's mission targets is to provide services toFinnish citizens, to non-Finnish citizens with permanent residence in Finland and in certain matters also to citizens of other countries.
Finns and non-Finns residing permanently in Finland are assisted in matters within the scope of the Consular Services Act. According to the Consular Services Act, a person applying for a consular service shall be advised and given guidance on how to proceed with his or her matter.
These services include issuing passports, providing notarial services (legalisations etc.) and assisting with legal issues concerning family matters, citizenship and military service. Furthermore, the Embassy organises advance voting abroad.
The consular section assists non-Finnish citizens with entry permit (visa and residence permit) questions.
Finnish citizens visiting or residing in Malaysia are encouraged to submit a travel notification.
The Embassy of Finland also hosts the library of the Finnish association in Malaysia. The books are categorised into travel literature, children's books, biographies, Finnish, English and Swedish fiction and non-fiction. In addition, there is a collection of books on Finland ranging from various aspects of Finnish culture to Finnish society and politics. Books are lent out for a period of one month. The library will also receive donations.
The library is open during embassy’s opening hours, but the collection can also be viewed online.
